Dr. Massie is known for his caring personality and how well he relates to his patients. Unlike big corporate highway chain stores, he takes the time to really get to know our patients and feels that it is the only way to provide the best care for you. Optometrist, Dirk Massie

Doctor Dirk Massie attended the University of Illinois where he graduated with honors while earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology (Sports Medicine). He then attended 4 years of Optometry School at the University of Missouri . Some of you may know other people or doctors with the last name Massey.  Doctor Massie is often asked if he is related to anyone who is also named Doctor Massey.  He usually goes on to tell them that he is the first Optometrist in the family and they are not relatives of his.  While in Optometry school, he worked at one of the largest private practices in the country where the eye doctors were also the team eye doctors for the St. Louis Rams, St. Louis Blues, and University of Missouri athletes.

Doctor Massie specializes in contact lenses and sports vision. He has been specially-trained and certified to fit the most complex contact lenses. He routinely prescribes contact lenses for patients with astigmatism, eye disorders/diseases, bifocals, and even vision shaping contact lenses that provide non-surgical vision correction. Doctor Massie also practices full scope eye care, including LASIK surgery care, and has the authority to write prescription medicines for conditions such as glaucoma, dry eyes, and allergies.

In his spare time he enjoys spending time with his wife, Julie and their three children, Carson, Brock, and Olivia. He enjoys traveling, playing golf, and attending University of Illinois sporting events.

Dr. Marcus Cuff

Doctor Marcus Cuff is a native of the metro-east area having grown up in Collinsville, IL. Marcus attended Southeast Missouri State University (SEMO) in Cape Girardeau, MO graduating with Bachelor’s degrees in both Chemistry and Biology. Marcus graduated cum laude with academic distinction in the field of biology related to Microbiology research completed while at SEMO. Marcus was also actively involved in education as a supplemental instructor while at SEMO receiving a University Service Award for outstanding service to the university and the southeast region. Upon completing his studies, Marcus elected to continue his education at University of Missouri- St. Louis College of Optometry. During his optometric education Marcus worked at Performance Eyecare performing several tasks related to patient care. Marcus obtained a variety of patient care specialization with rotations at many well known clinics including the St. Louis Veterans Affairs Medical Center at Jefferson Barracks and John Cochran and well-established private doctor’s offices in the St. Louis area.

Doctor Cuff’s optometric fields of interest include pediatrics/binocular vision and vision therapy, ocular disease, and specialized contact lens fitting. Doctor Cuff is dedicated to treating patients of any age just like they were family and likes the variability that can be encountered in daily practice while working with patients with different needs. Doctor Cuff is an active member of the American Optometric Association, Illinois Optometric Association, and Southwestern Illinois Optometric Society. In his spare time, Dr. Cuff enjoys spending time outdoors including hunting, fishing, golfing, and camping.

Cataract Surgeon <br />Dr. Mason F. Bias, Ophthalmologist

Our Belleville Cataract Surgeon, Dr. Mason Bias performs cataract surgery on our Swansea and Belleville patients.  He is a native of St. Louis and received his undergraduate degree from The College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia.  Dr. Bias earned his medical degree at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine in Nashville, Tennessee.  Dr. Bias then served as Chief of Ophthalmology at Keesler AFB Medical Center in Biloxi, Mississippi, and finished his military educational commitment at the Air Force School of Aerospace Medicine.


Dr. Bias is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology, and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology.  Dr. Bias is only one of two board certified Cataract Surgeons, in the St. Louis region.  He specializes in Advanced Cataract Eye Exam and Care, utilizing the “No-Shot, No-Stitch, No-Patch” surgical approach that offers patients rapid visual recovery after cataract surgery.  When your vision becomes blurry from cataracts, you along with the guidance of Dr. Massie, will determine when it’s time to be scheduled with Dr. Bias for cataract surgery.  Our patients are very happy with their vision after Dr. Bias examines and removes their cataracts and we’re sure you will also be pleased when that time comes.
