Doctor Dirk Massie attended the University of Illinois where he graduated with honors while earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology (Sports Medicine). He then attended 4 years of Optometry School at the University of Missouri . Some of you may know other people or doctors with the last name Massey.  Doctor Massie is often asked if he is related to anyone who is also named Doctor Massey.  He usually goes on to tell them that he is the first Optometrist in the family and they are not relatives of his.  While in Optometry school, he worked at one of the largest private practices in the country where the eye doctors were also the team eye doctors for the St. Louis Rams, St. Louis Blues, and University of Missouri athletes.

Doctor Massie specializes in contact lenses and sports vision. He has been specially-trained and certified to fit the most complex contact lenses. He routinely prescribes contact lenses for patients with astigmatism, eye disorders/diseases, bifocals, and even vision shaping contact lenses that provide non-surgical vision correction. Doctor Massie also practices full scope eye care, including LASIK surgery care, and has the authority to write prescription medicines for conditions such as glaucoma, dry eyes, and allergies.

Those who know Doctor Massie are aware of his passion for golf. Doctor Massie has extensively studied the association between our visual system and playing golf well-particularly putting a golf ball. He is only one of a few eye doctors in the country that provides Visual Golf Putting Lessons to his patients. He teaches patients how to best use their eyes to read the break of the green, perfectly align the putt, accurately judge distance, and ultimately develop a sound putting routine.

In his spare time he enjoys spending time with his wife, Julie and their three children, Carson, Brock, and Olivia. He enjoys traveling, playing golf, and attending University of Illinois sporting events.
